Diploma/Bachelor in Education (Primary Teaching)

Australia Awards In-PNG Scholarships help Papua New Guineans to gain tertiary qualifications in key areas identified by the Governments of Papua New Guinea and Australia. These scholarships are offered through selected institutions in PNG.

Primary school teachers play a vital role in strengthening the quality of primary education across Papua New Guinea, especially in rural and remote communities. 

Australia Awards strongly encourage applications from women, people with disability, and individuals from rural and remote communities. Australia Awards is committed to equitable access and participation and will support reasonable adjustments for applicants and scholars with disability.

The Government of Australia, in partnership with the Government of Papua New Guinea, will offer scholarships for Grade 12 school leavers and current non-school leavers to undertake a three-to four-year Diploma or Bachelor in Education (Primary Teaching) in 2026 at the following institutions:

  • Sacred Hearts Teachers College (Diploma in Education, Primary Teaching)
  • Melanesian Nazarene Teachers College (Bachelor of Education, Primary Teaching)
  • Innovative University of Enga (Bachelor of Education, Primary Teaching)

This scholarship is for study in PNG only (not Australia).

It is open to women and men.

Applicants must apply through the DHERST National Online Application System (NOAS): https://apply.dherst.gov.pg.
