Graduate Diploma in Economic and Public Policy

The Graduate Diploma in Economic and Public Policy (GDEPP) at the University of Papua New Guinea’s School of Business and Public Policy (UPNG SBPP) provides professionals with the skills to design and implement effective national policies. Eligibility

Public Sector Leadership Scholarships are open to Papua New Guinean public servants at Grade 14 and above, who are employed under the Public Service General Order. Applicants must be based in the National Capital District and work in a department or statutory authority deemed eligible by the Department of Personnel Management. Women and people with disability are strongly encouraged to apply.

The program is delivered part-time, with classes typically held after hours on weekdays (Monday to Friday). The scholarship covers tuition fees and provides a contribution toward ICT costs. Scholarship recipients who successfully complete the GDEPP in 2026 may be invited to pursue the Master of Economic and Public Policy (MEPP) in 2027, through either a coursework or research pathway.

How to Apply

The application process has two steps:

  1. Apply for admission to UPNG SBPP Applicants should complete the 2026 Postgraduate Studies Application Form and submit it directly to UPNG by Tuesday, 30 September 2025 with required credentials and an application fee of K250. The application form is available at:

    Select the following in the application form:

    • Graduate Diploma in Economic and Public Policy
    • Part-time study
    • Sponsorship/Scholarships in Section 4
       
  2. Ensure scholarship eligibility requirements are met including:
    • UPNG SBPP’s admission requirements for the GDEPP
    • Endorsement from applicant’s head of agency must be submitted to AAPNG on Friday, 24 October 2025 by email: incountry@australiaawardspng.org.
