Short Courses

Australia Awards Short Courses provide targeted skill development opportunities for Papua New Guineans that:

  • offer short-term professional learning in Papua New Guinea and Australia 
  • enhance skills in key sectors, responding to workforce gaps and priorities, supporting Papua New Guinea’s development and individual career growth 
  • meet priority learning and development needs, resulting in a new skill and/or qualification (e.g.microcredentials) 
  • provide networking opportunities and exposure to Australian organisations and culture.
 

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a Papua New Guinean citizen
  • Have graduated within the last two years from a registered PNG tertiary institution
  • Hold a recognised qualification such as a diploma, graduate certificate, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree
  • Not currently be employed in a field related to your area of study
  • Demonstrate an interest in developing skills in program management
  • Be available to attend a Youth Short Course (one-week, two-week, or four-week) on a full-time basis
  • Have intermediate to advanced English language proficiency
  • Possess intermediate IT skills (e.g. ability to use computers effectively)
  • Be committed to actively fostering networks within Papua New Guinea and Australia.
