Congratulations to more than 176 In-PNG Australia Awards alumni celebrating the completion of their academic studies and the 2025 Work Ready Workshops in Port Moresby.
The graduates, who studied programs such as midwifery, nursing, primary and secondary teaching, education, and maritime disciplines, represent a growing cohort of skilled professionals ready to contribute to Papua New Guineaβs development. Many travelled from across the country to participate in the workshop, which marks an important transition from study to employment.
First introduced in 2016, the Work Ready Workshops help alumni to bridge the gap between academic learning and the practical demands of the workplace. Over the course of the program, participants engaged in activities that fostered the development of ethical leadership behaviours and develop capacities related to planning, decision-making, and influencing others through adaptive leadership processes and techniques. These skills are vital in helping graduates move confidently and resiliently as leaders in the workforce and contribute to positive development outcomes for Papua New Guinea..
Through the In-PNG Scholarships program, over 3,000 Papua New Guineans have accessed vital educational opportunities in fields that are critical to national development. Many of these alumni are already contributing as teachers, nurses, midwives, and maritime professionals, often working in remote and rural areas where their expertise is most needed.
The Work Ready Workshop supports new alumni who have completed in-PNG scholarships to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills to succeed professionally in their fields and communities.
As Papua New Guinea approaches its 50th anniversary of independence, this new generation of graduates stands ready to carry forward the vision of nation-building, partnership, and progress.
