Australia Awards In-PNG Scholarships help Papua New Guineans gain tertiary qualifications in key areas identified by the Governments of Papua New Guinea and Australia. These scholarships are offered through selected institutions in PNG.

Nurses are crucial in strengthening healthcare services across Papua New Guinea. Through their training and dedication, they help deliver quality care in hospitals, clinics, and communities.

Australia Awards welcomes applications from all eligible candidates and particularly encourages women, people with disabilities, and individuals from rural and remote communities to apply. Australia Awards is committed to equitable access and participation and will support reasonable adjustments for applicants and scholars with disability.

The Government of Australia in partnership with the Government of Papua New Guinea will offer scholarships to Grade 12 school leavers and current non-school leavers to undertake a three-year Diploma in General Nursing in 2027 at the following institutions:

  • Lae School of Nursing
  • Lutheran School of Nursing.

This scholarship is for study in Papua New Guinea only (not Australia).
