The PNG–Australia Partnership, through Australia Awards PNG, supports academics and professional staff from Papua New Guinea universities to present at conferences and symposiums in Australia.
Program Objectives
This initiative aims to:
- strengthen linkages between PNG and Australia
- enhance skills and knowledge of university academics and professional staff
- promote research
- support researchers share their findings.
Benefits
Successful applicants may receive support for:
- accommodation
- economy-class airfares (international and domestic, via the most direct route)
- per diems
- conference registration fees
- international travel insurance.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- be a citizen of Papua New Guinea
- be an academic or professional staff member employed full-time at a recognised PNG higher education institution
- have a paper or submission accepted for presentation at a conference or symposium in Australia
- hold a valid PNG passport (valid for at least six months beyond travel dates)
- provide written endorsement from:
- Head of Department; and
- Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Vice-Chancellor, or equivalent.
Required Supporting Documents
Applicants must provide:
- proof of conference or symposium acceptance (e.g. abstract acceptance or invitation letter)
- valid passport (bio-data page)
- one form of ID (NID card, driver’s licence, or employment ID)
- letter or email of institutional endorsement (from authorised senior leadership).
